Days 1-3: Cape Town Welcome and Private Aquarium Party
Our South Africa adventure began in the vibrant city of Cape Town, where we balanced work, relaxation, and exploration. Our group of 30 travelers from across the U.S. was greeted with breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the stunning Cape coastline.
One of the trip’s highlights was our private meet-and-greet party at the Two Oceans Aquarium. Renting out the entire venue allowed us an exclusive experience with a live African band setting the mood. This unique start to our journey created an unforgettable first impression of Cape Town.
Day 4: Discovering the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach

Day 4 was dedicated to exploring some of South Africa’s most iconic landmarks. We traveled to the Cape of Good Hope, the southwestern most point of Africa, where we were treated to panoramic ocean views and a sense of awe at the continent’s edge.
Next, we visited Boulders Beach, famous for its colony of African penguins. Seeing these charming creatures in their natural habitat was a delight for everyone in the group. Later that evening, we gathered for an African-themed dinner featuring dishes from across the continent, all while dressed in our finest African attire. The evening was filled with cultural appreciation, delicious food, and lively dancing.
Day 5: Arrival in Johannesburg and a Special Engagement
After our incredible time in Cape Town, we headed to Johannesburg, the heart of South Africa. Upon arrival, the group received exciting news—congratulations to Satasade R. on her engagement! The joy and celebration added a special touch to our Johannesburg experience.
Day 6: Exploring Johannesburg and Lesedi Cultural Village
Our exploration of Johannesburg began with a visit to the Lesedi Cultural Village. Here, we immersed ourselves in the rich traditions of South Africa’s prominent tribes—Xhosa, Zulu, and Sotho. We learned how to create African beats on drums, participated in a cultural dance show, and gained a deeper understanding of South Africa’s diverse heritage.
In the afternoon, we visited Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, home to the iconic statue of Nelson Mandela. Standing in front of this powerful symbol of freedom was a moving experience for everyone.
Day 7: Pilanesberg National Park Safari
Our journey culminated with an exhilarating safari at Pilanesberg National Park. This was the day everyone had been eagerly awaiting—the chance to spot the Big Five: lions, buffaloes, leopards, elephants, and rhinos. We were particularly fortunate to see numerous elephants throughout the day, showcasing their majestic beauty up close.
The safari was a true highlight of our South African adventure, providing a perfect blend of thrill and wonder as we marveled at the incredible wildlife.
Day 8: Discovering Johannesburg at Your Own Pace
Our "Jo'Burg Your Way" day allowed everyone to experience Johannesburg, South Africa, in their unique way. Some of our travelers explored the vibrant township of Soweto, a place rich in history and culture. Others opted for the convenient hop-on/hop-off bus tour, providing a comprehensive look at the city’s iconic landmarks. The Apartheid Museum was another popular choice, offering a deep and moving insight into South Africa's past. For those seeking relaxation, it was the perfect time to unwind before the journey home.
Day 9: Final Day and Farewell Dinner
The majority of Day 9 was free for everyone to explore Johannesburg or simply soak in the last moments of our South African adventure. We concluded our trip with a farewell dinner at a delightful Greek restaurant nearby. This dinner also served as a sneak peek of our next group trip to Greece!
During the event, we held a giveaway of AMEX gift cards as a token of appreciation. Chanelle C. walked away with a $100 gift card for having the most social media posts throughout the trip.
